Matt's current situation:
I'm at that awkward stage of my life. You know, where I've just graduated from college, I'm still looking for the job of my dreams and living at home. It's probably a good thing I still live at home since I have all that college debt.
Matt's blog post:
Living at home is an odd situation for me. I want to be independent, yet I know I just don't make enough money to have a stable life on my own just yet. Thankfully, my family doesn't really mind if I stay at home a little longer. I know a lot of parents that can't wait for their kids to turn 18 so they can move out.
Don't get me wrong; I pay for my fair share. I bought my car, and pay for maintenance, gas, insurance, etc. The same goes for my cell phone. A lot of what I don't spend, though, gets thrown into my savings account. I DO go out sometimes...I'm 22, after all. Even then, I usually only go where there are deals.
Ever since I was little, my friends and family have called me cheap. I prefer to call myself smart. While a lot of my friends are throwing away their money on the newest Shox or Express shirts, I'm waiting for them to go on sale and maybe to be sent a coupon.
The point is I like to save money, and I'd like to think I'm good at it. I don't think many people around my age are concerned about saving up for the future. I think young people believe they can't have fun in their youth AND save money, and they are absolutely wrong. The youth of America needs to start saving more money. Having funds is better than not, right?
