Tim's current situation:

Hi, my name is Tim Bryant. I graduated this past Spring with a degree in Accounting from UMSL. I guess I got my degree as a backup plan because my true passion is film. I currently teach tesson at a local country club in St. Louis and have aspirations of breaking through in the film industry as a director/writer.

Tim's blog post:

The thing that worries me most about this generation is the fact that we are lazy. Yeah I said it, we are lazy. I mean, the first thing I heard on the radio this morning when I was driving to work was the lazy song by Bruno Mars. Not saying I don’t enjoy floating at the pool all day, but the world is evolving faster and quicker then ever before. It seems that we get new technology before we can even grasp the previous one. Not only is being lazy not very productive, but it cannot come at a worse time. Every time you turn on the news it reports the economy is at record lows, oil is running out, and politics is going nowhere. We, as a country, our facing complex problems that lack any clear-cut solutions. So were doomed right?

Not so fast. Though we might be lazy, we as a generation are very smart and creative when we want to be. I personally know many of my peers who have brilliant minds. Some put them to very good use, while many others seem to waster them. So if we have all this creativity, why are we so lazy. I believe the biggest reason is that no one feels they make a difference in the grand scheme of the world. I know countless of people who just don’t vote for no real reason. Why do we not care about the president of our own country? Why are we more fascinated with what Charlie Sheen does next then the solution to the dwindling supply of natural resources left in the world? Why doesn’t anyone cook at home? Why do we allow our government to pass the patriot act, which allows the government to do virtually anything they want. Wasn’t this nation built upon freedom.

I read the other day about a science experiment in which many years ago scientists put monkeys on an island that had previously been hit with a nuclear bomb. They wanted to see how they would react the nuclear site. Everything on the island was fine, except for the coconut husk had some traces of radioactive waste. So, what they did was taught the monkeys how to peel the husks of and wash them. At first only four monkeys did it. Then the number started to grow and grow. However only about 44 of many thousands were doing it. The thing that surprised them was that when the 100th monkey learned it, the many thousand all learned it at once.

It is my goal as a person to wake up my generation up and start to take over the world with it. We must awaken the beautiful minds of our generation and see what becomes. Our father and mothers did well, but we can take over from here. It is our turn now to create our own world. We must spread this message in the hopes that we find our 100th monkey.

Tim
