Evan's current situation:

I am a 21-year-old senior film production student at Webster University, minoring in philosophy. I returned from a semester abroad in Thailand just over a year ago. I was born in Okinawa, Japan, but spent most my years growing up northwest of St. Louis in O'Fallon, Missouri. I am the oldest of six children in my family, which helped develop me into the natural leader I am today.

This summer I did some work with iClips Network, a local company which records and broadcasts live major music festivals. Going to the festivals and shooting My Morning Jacket, The Flaming Lips, Primus, (and more!) was an extremely fun experience that will help me further my career as a videographer.

I have also been working on a number of short films, including shooting a short film for the St. Louis 48 Hour Film Festival in June.

Evan's blog post:

My generation, specifically people age 18-25, have a huge responsibility to face in the future. Though we are young and free today, more of us are getting old and securing ourselves everyday.

It is the responsibility of us young people to be the force of progressive change to make this world better. Most of us can see that the system is broke -- our country is in massive debt, our representatives are paid to represent corporations, and our current energy needs are destroying nature. Do not be discouraged! We cannot be discouraged, for we are the ones that must change things!

Our generation has been the first to wield incredible technology in the form of video and the internet, and the cell phones we all carry that do both and keep us connected to each other at all times. We can use these gifts, given to us by the last generation, to help us all progress as a society, specifically in the incredible big-small town of St. Louis.

I certainly don't have all the answers, but I do know that if we unite and find common ground and use our common sense we can help us all live in a happier and more peaceful world.

“The difference between what we do and what we are capable of doing would suffice to solve most of the world's problems” - Mahatma Gandhi
