Budgeting in a Recession

In these hard economical times, we must make the most of each dollar. Many are out of work or working from check to check. Its times like these that we must think ahead and plan for the future. Although many of us are not “rolling in the dough“, here are few helpful tips to save and budget.

Track every dollar. Fast food, nightlife and splurging are all quick ways to lose your money fast. Find free activities such as the zoo, free admission for nightlife before a certain time, guest list or just gathering with friend. Often times we spend a dollar here, dollar there and sooner rather than later, we have no idea where the money has gone. Keep a log and be accountable for cent you earn. The log will not only help with how you spend your money but also keep you current with your financial situation.

Budget Billing: Most people are not aware that Water, Sewage and Electric Companies have budget plans. These plans are designed to help the consumer save money and time. We all know that bills are due monthly and it would be a major help to know the exact cost to avoid worry or extra fees. Even if your already settled into your home, no worries, majority of these companies are willing to work with you to receive budget billing.

Discount/Coupons: Grocery stores are taking the lead and allowing customers to receive discounted groceries on a monthly bases. The weekly paper has ads and coupons that can help stretch a dollar a long way. Coupons, com has a variety of discounts available for shopping online, clothing, baby items, concert tickets and etc. We are in the age of technology and the internet can be our friend if you just know where to find great deals.

Budgeting in times like these can be hard but with the proper knowledge and willpower, one can save beyond their wildest dreams. Ranging from budget billing to coupons, consumers can make better use their cash and make it last. Overall, taking small steps can make a big impact one the road to financial freedom and budgeting. Happy Saving!
